Women Entrepreneurs
in the Digital News Frontier

Limited access to capital and training threaten women’s full participation as entrepreneurs in the digital news media. The IWMF’s Women Entrepreneurs in the Digital News Frontier grant program, funded by the Ford Foundation, tackles this disparity head on by combating these twin obstacles.

Since 2011, nine Women Entrepreneurs in the Digital News Frontier grants of $20,000 each have been awarded to women journalists seeking to launch their own innovative digital media startups. Grantees also receive ongoing pro-bono coaching to support their work.
