Fellow Feedback
"The program has made me more aware of HIV/AIDS stories, their impact and the vast number of untold, important stories out there."

IWMF HIV/AIDS Investigative Reporting in South Africa

In partnership with major South African media outlets, the IWMF is preparing journalists to produce in-depth reporting on issues surrounding the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Fellows complete a specialized year-long training curriculum and receive ongoing mentoring from experienced journalists and scholars.

The fellows represent a range of South African news organizations, both national and community media outlets.

They are receiving advanced training and coaching to produce innovative, high-quality investigative reporting on the complex issues surrounding HIV/AIDS, reflecting women’s voices and concerns. Each will produce 3-4 investigations as part of the IWMF program.

The fellowship is supported by the M*A*C* AIDS Fund. It aims to increase public awareness of the multi-faceted impact the HIV/AIDS epidemic has on South African communities, with fellows telling untold stories through their reporting.
