The Committee to Protect Journalists recently published its Impunity Index for 2009, a list of countries where journalists’ murders are routinely unsolved. Iraq ranked first, with 88 deadly attacks on journalists receiving no convictions. The compilation included 13 other countries, ranking unsolved murders per capita for the years 1999 through 2008.
