Three men were acquitted of the murder of Anna Politkovskaya, Russian journalist and winner of an IWMF Courage Award in 2002. Best known for her stories about the war in Chechnya, Politkovskaya was found shot in her Moscow apartment in 2006. Sources believe she was murdered because her investigations uncovered information that threatened influential figures within Russia.
