The International Women’s Media Foundation is pleased to announce the creation of The Elizabeth Neuffer IWMF Fund. The program is named in memory of Elizabeth Neuffer, a 1998 winner of the IWMF’s Courage in Journalism Award and a reporter for The Boston Globe, who died in Iraq on May 9, 2003. In collaboration with Elizabeth’s partner, Peter Canellos, and her brother, Mark Neuffer, the IWMF has established this fund to support women journalists from around the world who share Elizabeth’s passion for promoting social justice and human rights. In 2004, The Elizabeth Neuffer IWMF Fund will provide a fellowship for a woman journalist who demonstrates a strong commitment to covering international human rights issues.
