The IWMF is serious about making pioneering happen. With help from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation we sponsored unique research and training projects that succeeded in boosting both the quality and quantity of reporting on HIV/AIDS in Africa. The Howard J. Buffett Foundation has agreed to underwrite a new effort that will galvanize reporting on rural development issues in Africa. Our newest initiative is a first: a groundbreaking research project that will track the career trajectories of women in media.
