Frezer Negash, a correspondent for the U.S.-based Ethiopian Review website, was freed from custody March 10. No formal charges were filed, but Negash had been detained in Addis Ababa since Jan. 27. The case is still under investigation. The Ethiopian government launched a crackdown on the press last November following protests over the disputed May elections, resulting in the detainment of Negash and many other journalists.
