Journalists Behind Bars: 145 Worldwide
China’s “brutal suppression of ethnic journalism” and Iran’s “sustained crackdown on criticial voices” drove up the number of imprisoned journalists worldwide to its highest level in 14 years, a global media watch group has found.

Some 145 journalists are behind bars, according to a new report by the Committee to Protect Journalists. Read more.

Iryna Khalip Wins Special Mention for Investigative Journalism Award
Iryna Khalip from Belarus has won a Special Mention for the CEI SEEMO Award for Outstanding Merits in Investigative Journalism 2010.  Khalip was a 2009 Courage in Journalism Award Winner.
