Courage winner continues to receive threats
June 26, 2012 -- Iryna Khalip, a 2009 winner of the IWMF Courage in Journalism Award, recently found a chicken head placed directly in her mail box.
“I see it as a direct life threat,” Khalip told www.charter97.org.
Khalip, a journalist for Novaya Gazeta, received a suspended two-year prison sentence for participating in a demonstration following the Belarusian presidential election in 2010. She is under constant police surveillance.
