The International Reporting Project is now accepting applications for a Gatekeeper Editor Trip to Korea for U.S. editors and producers interested in learning more about the Korean peninsula. The Oak Institute for the Study of International Human Rights at Colby College will choose a journalist working to promote human rights as its 2008 Oak Fellow. The fellow will teach and conduct research while residing at the College.  Visit the Colby website for details.

The Kaiser Family Foundation is now accepting applications for its Kaiser Media Fellowship in Health Program, which is designed to help journalists and commentators do the best possible job of keeping the public informed about U.S. health issues. Ethnic media journalists are invited to apply for fellowships offered by USC Annenberg's Institute for Justice and Journalism. J-Lab: The Institute for Interactive Journalism invites U.S. nonprofit groups and education organizations to apply for funding to launch community news ventures in 2008. Editors and designers worldwide are invited to enter the Society for News Design's Best of Newspaper Design Creative Competition. Newspaper work published in 2007 may be entered in categories such as news, features and information graphics. The Journalism Center on Children & Families is now accepting entries for the 2008 Casey Medals for Meritorious Journalism, which honor distinguished coverage of children and families. The Center is a nonprofit training and resource center based at the University of Maryland's Philip Merrill College of Journalism. Five outstanding professional journalists from Latin America will be chosen to conduct two weeks of reporting in Washington, D.C. The Washington Post and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars are sponsoring the program, for which journalists will report on an issue of importance to their home countries concerning hemispheric relations. The AL DIA Foundation invites journalists to apply for the Felix Varela Award for Excellence in Spanish-Language Journalism in the United States. The Society of American Business Editors and Writers invites journalists to apply for its 14th annual Best in Business contest. The National Institutes of Health announces a free annual training to help develop journalists' ability to evaluate and report on medical research. This year’s session, called "Medicine in the Media: The Challenge of Reporting on Medical Research," will be held May 5-7 in Hanover, N.H. The Forum for African Investigative Reporters invites African investigative journalists to apply for 2008 grants. Investigative journalists from Eastern Europe and Central Asia, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Latin America are invited to apply for grants to attend the 2008 Global Investigative Journalism Conference in Lillehammer, Norway, in September.
